Hello everybody, my name is Clare Tyrrell and I'm from England. I first came to Abu Dhabi to work in 1983 at the Corniche Hospital, where I stayed for six years before returning to the UK. However, the lure of the UAE plus the thought of some warmer weather was too strong, so I returned with my family in 1997. We have since lived in Sharjah, Muscat and Abu Dhabi, where I worked in nurseries with 3-4 yr olds. Prior to moving to Dubai in 2010, I worked at the British School in Abu Dhabi for five years in the Foundation Stage 1 Class and was able to attend various lectures and the most enjoyable was Learning and Developing Through Play, which I am looking forward to putting into practice at TCG Jumeira as TA in Marigold Yellow.
Hello! I’m Zarni Buenaflor, English homeroom teacher of the Marigold Yellow. I hail from Manila, Philippines but have been living in Dubai for the last five years. This is my third year teaching at TCGJ. I graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Humanities and a Masters Degree in Education after which I went straight to teaching Nursery and KG1. Aside from teaching this adorable age group, my passions include theatre and travel (yes, 3 T’s!). I have performed in shows and musicals, the most recent one was in "West Side Story" where I played the role of Velma. I also love doing creative drama with children and integrating theatre skills in my teaching because I believe children are born actors and they really enjoy and can learn so much from theatre. As for the explorer side of me, I love to travel and to date, I’ve been to countries in four out of the seven continents. My other interests include singing, dancing, reading, blogging, web surfing, and trying out extreme sports like white water rafting and skydiving. The world is a great teacher and I hope to inspire my precious students to grow up into creative, confident, fun-loving and compassionate individuals.
