Animals in Art

You may have noticed that TCG Jumeira is slowly transforming into the perfect habitat for all sorts of animals as we further explore our current topic, All Creatures Big and SmallClick here to find out what it's all about!

Topics 2009-2010

My Environment and Me (September 27th - October 15th)

Primarily an opportunity for the children to feel secure within their new classroom environment, and develop the skills to look after it. Learning to co-operate as part of the class, routines and rules, play an essential part. This topic can also be an opportunity to look at the child within the family unit, the local environment and caring for our environment.

Colours of the World (October 18th - November 26th)

A celebration of our world through its many continents, cultures and thus colours. A topic during which the children's own origins and cultures are shared and explored. A time to taste, smell, listen, see and touch aspects from cultures at home and abroad. This topic provides a fantastic opportunity for the children to learn from one another.

A Few Snowy Days (December 7th - December 17th)

In December whilst Dubai is in its favoured climate, many countries of the world are wrapping up warm and lighting their log fires. It's an experience a number of our children will not yet know of, so we try and bring it to them. A few snowy days is an exploration of seasons, weather and winter celebrations around the world.

A Healthy Mind, Body and Soul (January 3rd - February 11th)

With childhood obesity on the rise, there is no time like the present to educate our children on the importance of healthy living. This topic has so much breadth from what we put in our bodies to how we take care of our body and mind. It's a time to play nurses and doctors, be brave and taste new foods, play blindfold games and simply explore what mother nature gave us.

All Creatures Big and Small (February 14th - March 25th)

From the tiny ant to the biggest dinosaur, the fastest cheetah to the slowest tortoise, 'All creatures big and small' is a chance for children to share knowledge of animals from around the world. This topic is not only about caring for and respecting animals it's an opportunity to explore habitats and skeletons, families and diets. It is without doubt one of the children's favourite topics due to it's vast nature.

Getting from A to B (April 11th - May 20th)

A new addtion to the topics at TCG, getting from A to B is essentially about change. Every day we go through thousands of transitions without even realising it, and the world does it with us. Plants growing, sun rising, ice melting, vehicles travelling, colours mixing - the list is endless. A chance to share in our everday transitions.

Reflections... with a Twist of Imagination! (May 23rd - June 23rd)

Largely a chance at the end of the year to reflect on all the hard work of your child, to revisit concepts and themes that either required deeper delving or were simply loved. 'Reflections...' is also an opportunity to incorporate themes and ideas that the children have put forward. Royalty, pirates, the emergency services, fantasy...If you were a child again what would you like to learn about?
